ST. LOUIS — Two living icons of the St. Louis Cardinals – Albert Pujols and Yadier Molina – are facing a cruel crossroads with the team that made their names. Both are ready to return in leadership roles behind the scenes, but the Cardinals have not made any clear moves. And now, other teams such as the Baltimore Orioles, Miami Marlins and even the New York Mets have begun to approach.

It’s no longer a rumor – Molina himself confirmed: “I want to be a coach. And I’m not afraid to leave.”
In the latest interview, Molina shared:
“I thought I would finish my career with the Cardinals, both on and off the field. But if they don’t call, I can’t wait forever.”
This statement has shocked the Cardinals community. Molina, who has shown his managerial talent by leading Puerto Rico at the World Baseball Classic, is not only a hero to the city of St. Louis, but also a cultural icon.

Albert Pujols – the heart of St. Louis, can now wear the jersey of… the opponent?

Despite his retirement, Pujols still appears in many community activities of the Cardinals. But according to many inside sources, he is seriously considering offers to be an offensive consultant from other teams, including the Orioles – a team that is building a new force in the American League.

“If the Cardinals are not ready, I can’t stand still. I still want to contribute to baseball,” – Pujols said.
On the Reddit and X (Twitter) forums, a wave of protests erupted:
“Don’t let Molina be in the coaching chair… but for the Mets.”
“If Pujols is wearing an Orioles suit while standing in front of Busch Stadium… it’s a disgrace.”

GM John Mozeliak and his staff have yet to make an official offer, leaving the community wondering: Is this the beginning of the biggest rift since the Pujols-Molina-Wainwright era?

One last chance – or lost forever
The Cardinals have been a breeding ground for legends. But if they don’t keep icons like Pujols and Molina around, they could tear apart their own identity and their own heart.
