**Sioux Falls, SD** – The Sioux Falls Skyforce have announced the acquisition of forward Tony Snell’s returning player rights from the Maine Celtics.
Snell, a 6-6 forward from the University of New Mexico, was the 20th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls. Over the course of his nine-year NBA career, he has played for the Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks, Detroit Pistons, Atlanta Hawks, Portland Trail Blazers, and New Orleans Pelicans. He has averaged 6.1 points, shooting 43.1% overall and 39.4% from three-point range, along with 2.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 601 games, including 310 starts. Snell has made the playoffs in six seasons, with a notable performance during the 2016-17 Eastern Conference quarterfinals, where he averaged 10.0 points and shot 50% from the field.
Before joining the NBA, Snell played three seasons at New Mexico, averaging 9.2 points on 42.1% shooting, along with 2.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 104 games. His junior year was particularly strong, earning him the Mountain West Tournament MVP award and All-Conference honors.
Snell played for the Maine Celtics, where he appeared in 67 games and averaged 7.1 points and 3.9 rebounds. His contributions helped the team reach the NBA G League Finals last season.
To complete the transaction, the Skyforce sent the returning player rights of Cheick Diallo to the Celtics.
