From childhood rivals at Hogwarts to an inseparable bond in real life, Tom Felton and Emma Watson’s unique journey has left fans wondering: are they just friends, or something more?
In some exciting news for Harry Potter fans, Emma Watson has written the foreword to the book “Beyond The Wand.” Although the pair never dated, Watson has described their relationship as “soulmates,” and the two remain close to this day. “I love Emma very much,” Felton told ELLE. “And I think I know she loves me too. She was the first person to read the earliest drafts of the book, and she was kind enough to volunteer to write the foreword, which I am forever grateful for.”
Their friendship was born out of an accident, after Felton was “mean” during the audition for “Harry Potter.” Felton said: “I was a cocky 13-year-old, and she was a 9-year-old when she first came on set. We actually auditioned together, months before we were cast.
The story goes that they got 20 of us together, and he (Christopher Columbus, director of the first two “Harry Potter” films) auditioned us and “left” us there. He left us a giant microphone on our heads, and Emma said very sweetly, “What is that?” and I said, very annoyingly, “Obviously, it’s a microphone.” I think, strangely, maybe my arrogance helped me get the role of Draco.”
The two’s friendship is something Tom Felton hopes will continue for years to come, even if the world will never get the real-life “Dramione” (Hermione and Draco) couple they desire.
