Kesha has been outspoken about her views on Sean “Diddy” Combs.
She gained fame in 2010 with her hit “Tik Tok,” which famously starts with, “Wake up in the morning feeling like P Diddy.” However, the narrative shifted when Diddy’s ex, Cassie Ventura, filed a lawsuit accusing him of rape and sex trafficking over a decade.
Recently, Diddy was arrested in New York City on charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and other crimes. An unsealed indictment alleged he ran an enterprise involved in sex trafficking and forced labor. Diddy has pleaded not guilty and has been denied bail twice.
The tension between Kesha and Diddy escalated when she performed a new version of her song at Coachella in April with Reneé Rapp, changing the lyrics to “Wake up in the morning saying ‘F— P Diddy.'” Kesha later confirmed this new lyric would remain permanent, expressing gratitude to Rapp and reflecting on her growth since the original release.
Following Diddy’s arrest, Kesha posted a TikTok singing the altered lyrics, humorously raising her middle finger. Her own struggles with abuse are well-documented; in 2014, she filed a lawsuit against producer Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald, alleging emotional and sexual abuse. After a prolonged legal battle, she finally settled in 2023, allowing her to break free from his label and release new music.
