“After losing his beloved dog, a wealthy Chinese philanthropist spends a substantial sum rescuing destitute stray dogs from slaughterhouses.”

October 15, 2023 by Cong Danh

China is not such a good place for man’s best friend. Indeed, the Asian country sʟᴀᴜɢʜᴛᴇʀs 18 million dogs every year (derisory figure compared to 150 billion animals ᴋɪʟʟᴇᴅ every year for food purposes). And that’s terrible for pet lovers.

Chinese millionaire, Wang Yan, suffered the type of despair that pet owners desperately hope to avoid when his beloved dog escaped from his home and was nowhere to be found. He searches for his animal everywhere and he ended up going to a slaughterhouse just in case his dog was caught and taken there.

What he saw there terrified him. That’s when he realized he had to do something. He didn’t hesitate to spend $400,000 to buy the slaughterhouse and turn it into a rescue shelter. “I don’t accept monetary donations, I only hope that kind-hearted people will be able to donate a few supplies to help,” Yan said.

Yan’s rescue of more than 2,000 stray dogs has put him in danger of bankruptcy.  However, he does not stop there, he also provides any food and medical care possible for the dogs. Yan wants to adopt as many dogs as possible and help them find a new home through adoption. There were over 1,000 of them at the shelter at one point, but now there are only about 200, because most of them have been adopted.

Yan’s noble actions make everyone admire. What do you think of this man’s inspirational act of kindness? Let us know by commenting and sharing the article if you liked it!
