Fashion designer Justin Alexander Warshaw shares the story behind the jaw-dropping, larger-than-life wedding dress that has taken social media by storm.
On March 16, Warshaw posted a video on Instagram showcasing a towering wedding dress that stunned and confused thousands of viewers. The grand gown was displayed at an industry event in Rome on March 15, where it became an instant viral sensation. Many onlookers initially thought it was part of a real wedding, with some speculating that the bride was elevated above her guests, creating a unique entrance to her ceremony.
Warshaw, CEO and creative director of the Justin Alexander bridal brand, quickly clarified that the “bride” was actually a model hired for the event and that the extravagant gown was not meant for an actual wedding. Instead, it was a creative display at a wedding industry celebration held at Castello di Torcrescenza, an Italian castle.
The gown, which was supported by a metal frame and structure, allowed guests to walk underneath its enormous skirt. Warshaw humorously captioned the post, “Bride says ‘I want a grand entrance,'” joking about the dramatic effect it had on the crowd. The dress, dubbed the “Grand Dama,” was the highlight of the event, generating massive attention on social media, especially on platforms like TikTok, where it garnered over 500,000 views.
Despite the playful nature of the display, viewers were captivated by the scale and intricacy of the gown. Some were intrigued by the logistics, asking practical questions like how the model could manage the dress or whether a toilet system had been designed for such an extraordinary piece of clothing.
Warshaw explained that it took several days to prepare the gown, which required a carefully constructed frame to support its weight. The model remained elevated for two hours during the event’s aperitivo, entertaining guests with her towering presence.
The event, which featured heartfelt performances and a grand cake reveal, was a major success. Warshaw’s bold idea to create a memorable experience for industry insiders paid off, with many attendees still discussing the “Grand Dama” and the event’s unforgettable moments long after the celebration ended.
Though no couple exchanged vows, the event captured the spirit of love and celebration, making it a stunning display of creativity in the wedding industry.
