Meghan Markle Shares Rare Photo of Daughter Princess Lilibet in Celebration of International Women’s Day

Meghan Markle marked International Women’s Day with a heartfelt tribute, sharing a never-before-seen photo of her daughter, Princess Lilibet.

On Saturday, March 8, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, posted a series of images on Instagram to commemorate the occasion. Among them was a touching snapshot of 3-year-old Lilibet on a boat, nestled in the arms of her father, Prince Harry, 40, with her face turned away from the camera.

“Happy International Women’s Day!” Meghan captioned the post. “Celebrating the strong women around us & the girls with dreams who will become women with vision. Also thanking those who uplift us every day.”

A Personal and Meaningful Tribute

Alongside the photo of Lilibet and Harry, Meghan included a black-and-white image from her own childhood, showing her playing with her mother, Doria Ragland. Another snapshot featured Meghan and Harry by the ocean, laughing together in sunglasses and beachwear.

Meghan has long made it a tradition to honor International Women’s Day. In 2024, she participated in a SXSW panel titled Breaking Barriers, Shaping Narratives: How Women Lead On and Off the Screen. During the discussion, she shared a formative experience from her childhood—writing a letter to Procter & Gamble at just 11 years old, urging them to change an ad that suggested only women do the dishes.

Supporting Women Through Archewell

In 2023, Meghan and members of her organization, the Archewell Foundation, attended a Los Angeles fundraiser for Harvest Home, a nonprofit that provides housing, mental health support, and education for expectant mothers facing hardships such as domestic violence and homelessness.

Archewell shared photos from the event with a message: “Happy International Women’s Day to all of you! Whether donating your time, funds, or helping a woman in your community, let’s all celebrate the women in our lives today and every day!”

Additionally, the Archewell Foundation has collaborated with Moms First and the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media to fund research on the portrayal of mothers in entertainment.

“My past experience as an actress, and now today as a producer and mother, have amplified my belief in the critical importance of supporting women and moms both behind the lens and in front of it,” Meghan stated, according to Vanity Fair. “This report about the portrayal of mothers in entertainment highlights the gaps we need to fill to achieve true representation in the content we create and consume, and I’m honored to support this work through the Archewell Foundation.”

With her post, Meghan continues to use her platform to celebrate and uplift women, reinforcing her commitment to advocacy, motherhood, and positive change.
